The project reflects on the dependence of contemporary Chinese women on traditional Confucianism by reviewing the ceremony of sacrificing Confucius, one of the political manifestations of traditional patriarchal culture, in the revival of Confucian culture.
It attempts to explore the political structure requirements contained in this model, and the complexity and contradictions revealed by the tension in the seemingly-grand sacrifice.
Through observing the work and life experience of the women in PRC, the work finds that it is metaphorically consistent with some movements of the Confucian sacrificial rites. Reflecting the liberation of women in the social system, who still cannot get rid of their role as the appendage of man.
